As I am sure you have already discovered when researching RAW feeding and just comparing the RAW feeders on the Hub that everyone seems to have their "own way" of doing things. Personally I feed hearts, gizzards as the muscle (meat) portion. The reason I do this (or the reason I tell myself lol
) is that being a muscle I feel the hearts and gizzards would be very similar to the meat (muscle) and probably providing very similar nutrients, they would not provide the same nutrients that say liver or kidney would. They are a little richer than standard muscle, but muscle all the same. Ruby generally gets two heart meals in a fortnight - I usually buy 1kg vac sealed lamb hearts and 1kg vac sealed beef hearts and she will get hearts one meal a day for two days in a row each fortnight. Hearts are a great
cheap way of adding beef and lamb to their diet
. So heart is an organ and is therefore offal BUT for the purposes of RAW feeding I put it in the "muscle" ratio.
To answer your question directly - some do, I don't, I feel it is too similar to "normal" muscle meat, but thats JMO
