I know some folks don't like any grains, but others, like Dr. Pitcairn, do not subscribe to that theory and believe that some cooked grains can be a good, cost-effective source of nutrients. So I wouldn't worry about giving him some, especially if his poop is better!
I wish I could give Roddy a hug! He looks like such a neat dog in your posts. He certainly is lucky to be staying with you and I'm sure he knows it!
