My husband is STILL trying to have a lawn in our backyard!!! I've given up, LOL, but he keeps trying.... The dirt part is their favorite place to roll around. As you can see my husband planted grass seeds and fenced it off (it is nice and green), hoping it will take a good root since this early fall and go through the spring undisturbed by the dogs, LOL, since all that sod we had laid down obviously didn't last one season with these dogs.
And they love playing hide n seek in those bushes. some of them are so brown and dried out on the bottom. We had a little fence all around them, but the way the dogs play so rough, they either jump over the fence and get hurt or they really bent them so bad the other day, I told my husband to just take them down. I was really afraid they would get hurt badly. They were just planted this summer too.

One of our friends had artificial turf put in their yard because the dogs just ruined regular grass
the other thing you can do is install this hony comb stuff.... it prevents the roots from crushing thus not killing the grass... I heard about it on the radio but don't know where you get it.

bo has his special spot where he pees and about three feet in diameter is a huge spot of brown grass. but i get a catalog from dr. foster and smith, and they have a thing you can buy and you feed it to your dog every day and somehow it makes it so the grass doesnt die where they pee.

Our bare spots aren't from pee... well some are, but mostly it is just from them tearing it up running or plain ole pulling up with their teeth by the roots and running around with clumps in their mouths chasing each other like it is a toy in their mouths, because the sod that we had laid down never really rooted well and they sure picked up on that fast!!!

Scott, my husband was looking into that product today and he said it sounds like an option for us. He just doesn't know what to do with the clay once he digs up all the dirt, that is our problem now. No one will take it away for us, because of soil testing, possible contamination. Everything is so strict now days. Guess he will look into it more in the spring, but he likes it that idea so far.

Ha ha they scared Fudgie (he ran and hid in his crate) and Ruby came out in alert mode looking for them (she had been asleep with the skin kid).

LOL - that so reminds of my 2 here, right down to the noise and the way they play. It is great watching them Doreen, thanks for sharing that. I have no ideas what to do with your lawn though, I just give up with mine - it's almost bare now the whole year round.
