After Rex and Coco waited patiently for the storm to pass, they finally had a nice day to play outside.

Waiting for Ron to plow them some pathways to go outside without losing them in the drifts

It was just to cold and windy to be out until a couple days later. Now they are really enjoying the snow since it has melted and went down quite a bit. It is going to be about 40 degrees today again and for the next few days, so it will be gone in no time.

WOW - you got loads of the stuff! How do you even get out the front door Doreen? Have to ask as well what is the plough like that Ron uses? Does he sit on it and ride it through the snow or is it hand driven? Do all your neighbours have a plough? Do people come and clear the roads for you? Over here the council workers grit the roads if snow is forecast - that is special lorries come round and spray the main roads with salt to try and melt the stuff. They don't spray little residental roads at all, we have to clear them ourselves.

Here is Ron plowing. It runs on gas and you stand behind it, but it is self propelled when you press down on the handles. One engages it to move, the other handle engages the auger to throw the snow.

Not all neighbors have plows. Many do.

The city comes to plow the roads and I don't remember if at the same time, they drop salt from behind too, or if they come back another time to drop the salt. I know this time they didn't drop salt until a couple days later.

This snowstorm has been disastrous, especially in New York! There are still some streets that haven't been plowed yet. It just wasn't handled well at all and under investigation.

We still have so much snow and our temps are so warm. It is going down alot, but still causing driving problems due to piles so high at intersections etc. Plus they didn't make the highways wide enough in all place either, causing some traffic problems. Sometimes there are 3 lanes, then all of a sudden one lane is covered with piles of snow, causing you to have to move over quickly!

Thanks so much Doreen for explaining and putting some pictures up, I was really curious to know more about this and seeing the pictures really helps - they are abit like lawn mowers. There is always a drama here when it snows. The weekend before Christmas the snow came down hard and the nearby shopping centre decided to close for safety reasons - caused complete chaos on the roads and it was only 4-5 inches deep!

Stephanie, we do have a ride on lawn mower, for the grass to be cut in the summer.
