It is 2 years today that Rex looked like skin and bones and rescued from euthanasia by a nice couple of volunteers at a shelter. Fed him baby food by hand to help him gain 15 pounds before getting in touch with New Jersey Boxer Rescue to help find Rex a good home. Insisting on meeting the family that would adopt Rex and give their approval before releasing him to NJBR.

Our first visit to these wonderful people's home that took Rex to their home from the shelter. 20 days later.... see Rex's improvement, standing next to Ron.

This is Tom, the guy that took Rex from the shelter. He slept with Rex on that little sofa bed every night to make him feel safe.

Violet and I email every couple days and just marvel about Rex all the time! I brag about her and Tom as she does Ron and me. She brings the photos of Rex into her work that all know his story, from the beginning.

Violet, Tom's wife, my friend for life now that Rex has joined us together as family! She came to my house to visit Rex and met Coco too. Violet and Tom continue to do so much volunteer work with all dogs. Rex just happened to be a boxer at the shelter they volunteer at.

Rex today.... hard to believe the adventure he has been on. I get teary eyed every time I tell his story.

Thanks, but we didn't do it for the praise..... just a decent thing to do for those that need homes too. I now realize after being involved in rescue that many of these dogs do come with problems, the reason many people give them up, so it takes lots of patience and some things just won't ever change with them so you have to be ready for it. I don't know if in the future I will be physically able to take another case on. But I do know, I would like an older one next time.

I really think Coco is like a kid that has Attention deficit and is hyperactive. I sometimes also put her in the same way as kids with Autism. There is something about Coco that I just don't know what it is, but she definitely has some kind of mental problems. I'm not trying to be funny, but I seriously think she has something going on in her brain that I can't pinpoint. She is a very loving dog for short amounts of time, but distant at the same time... hard to explain. Yet she has that puppy, head tilting inquisitiveness about her, so cute when I talk to her.

I just wish she would give us more of a signal when she has to potty. She only looks at us, that's her que. That is a little hard to decipher at times, LOL. Especially in the middle of the night, and she is the one that usually has to potty in the middle of the night! So we just have to get the feeling when she is looking at us while we are sleeping. She only whines if she really really has to go and we are not seeing her.

Its great to know there are people out there who look out for animals like rex and will do whatever necessary to get them to their full potential. Rex looks stunning, a true reflection of the people who cared for him.

I feel like it took a village to get Rex to where he is today.

The person that found him on the streets and turned him into the the shelter.
Tom and Violet for taking him into their home, from the shelter, seeing something in his eyes!
I guess Ron and I had a little something to do with it too, LOL,
and of course all you guys on here for all the support I got in getting him into the great shape he is in now. Helping me get through his colitis!!! Guiding me all the way when I came on here looking for help!

So I thank you all, my Village People!!!!
