it is so stinking hot! There is a total fire ban and there has been a "Catastrophic fire conditions" warning. I hung out the washing at about 9am and I couldn't wait to get back inside....I'm going to the beach when I get the kids.

I'm with you.... spring is just right! I love hanging my wash outside in the summer. A clothesline is the first thing DH had to put up for me when we moved here. That made if feel like "home" !!! My mom always hung out wash. I love the fresh smell, and I don't care if the towels are a little hard, they dry the body better anyway then if they are too soft.

It smells fresher too, as an outsider looking in you guys seem to use clothes dryers ALOT, is that the norm over there instead of hanging it out? I can understand in winter when it's snowing but what about the rest of the year? Even when it rains I avoid the clothes dryer (only use it if I really need something dried soon) I usually have a large clothes airer I put up in the formal lounge (it's the least used room in the house) when it's raining.

Yes many many just use dryers. I rarely see clothes lines in people's yards. I have one of those little stand up racks to hold clothes on too for inside. I use if for my stretchy type pants, with the lycra in them. You know the almost like jogging pants that have the stripe going down the side. I love those kind of pants. Can't put them in the dryer. I also use the dogs crates to drape them on instead of dragging out the clothes rack. But if I have lots of those pants then I use both, LOL. If I go out, I have to hang them out in the garage, but it is colder out there. In my old house I had a basement and ran a few clotheslines down there that could be unhooked from the wall easily, for use when I wasn't using the dryer.

I love living here in Maryland . Nice long springs and fall , not extreme cold winters but still a change of seasons . We are originally from R.I. so we had enough long cold winters .

Well it is 26 F this morning but and it is supposed to get up to 66 F. Last week we had weather in the 70's and it was beautiful! Tomorrow it is only supposed to get in the 50'sand it will probably be windy so it will be cold.
