So I must sound very young on the phone because when sales people and telemarketers phone they always ask "is Mr or Mrs.......there?" or "can I speak to your Mum or Dad" I hate telemarketers so I always say "hang on a minute I'll get him" and give it to DH , I just did it to him again lol and I'm at the computer laughing while he is trying to get rid of them and giving me a very annoyed look, poor guy was watching a movie he he.
How do you guys get rid of sales people?

I've tried being nice, but most of the time I must just hang up on them. They don't seem to have the courtesy to accept "not interested".
We're on the Do Not Call national registry so we're not supposed to get telemarketers but the politicians made political calls exempt so we get them, and non-profits so there's a ton of them, and the business like drug stores that position themselves off shore so they're exempt - it's ridiculous.
Mike will sometimes say "just a minute" and then put the phone on the table and walk away. Or start asking them personal questions like what's they're home phone number, what did they have for lunch - crazy stuff.
I have sympathy for them when they call because I figure they're just trying to make a living and this is the job they have. But when I tell them I'm not interested and then they keep jumping in with some sales thing, that just seems rude to me. I don't have sympathy for that. That's just rude.

It drives me batty, we get a minimum of 20 calls per wk...i feel especially sorry for people with young babies who are napping during the day. I usually pass the phone to dh and when they tell him the name of the company they're calling from...he tell them he works for that company LOL LOL they hang up soooo fast.
Or....you could always do what my mom's been doing for years....keep a blowhorn next to the phone LOL

I've been getting them alot lately and I too am on the do not call registry. I am getting them on my cell phone too! I was getting text messages from them also, so I put an end to being able to receive texts, since I don't do that anyway. It's not fair that they could use up our minutes, not that I would ever use them up anyway, but still, if I was the kind that used the cell alot, it could cause problems.
I just tell them sorry and hang right up because most of the time, they just don't get it.

Hey! easy now. I'm a sales person!
As for TELEMARKETERS, I understand they are just trying to put food on the table so I listen to their spiel in case one time I might actually be interested (probably not) and then I say "No thanks". If you don't want to listen to the spiel fine say "no thanks" right off the start.
Once as a teen I volunteered to help the Alberta lung association find volunteers to sell flowers on "lung day" or something.... I called people off of a set list of potential volunteers and they were so rude to me it wasn't even funny. I will never do it again.

Once a telemarketer called and I gave the phone to my then 3 year old daughter . I was cracking up as she was telling the person about her stuffed animals .
