Does anyone have any exciting holidays planned?

My wife just got back from a week in vegas with her sister. I was at the cottage with my three skin kids and Peaches and enjoyed relaxing.

In August I am going to Quebec city for a Seminar. I wont' have much tiem for sight seeing but am still excited none the less.

Later in the month I will be going to Astoria Oregon for a Seminar which includes 2 days of Salmon fishing on the mouth of the Columbia River.

We will be going as a family to Jasper, Alberta in the rocky mountains the first week in September when all the older kids have returned to school. It will likely just be a 2 or 3 day trip!

Sounds like a lot of fun. I especially like the one to Jasper in September. That sounds especially relaxing and fun.

We decided to not go anywhere this winter and my husband is taking either a Friday or Monday off each week so we can have 3 day week-ends and enjoy where we live which is on Lake Michigan. It's been great! The water is in the mid to upper 70's and there's been lots of sunshine. I'm sure we'll do this again next year.

That is what DH does here. He takes off Mondays and Fridays. We like to go down to the shore. Today we went and had a nice lunch at one of the marinas. With 2 days relief of the heat wave, it was a pleasure to sit out on the deck there by the water and watch the boats coming and going. Nice breeze too!

We had done all our traveling with the kids in the younger years. Now we are just happy to enjoy time by the ocean a day at a time.

Looks like we will be going up north in September (it gets hot up there so Spring weather would suit us better than scorching Summer weather), DH should be picking up his car hopefully the end of this week and he will be on a mission to get a CB, mud tyres and any other stuff needed to prepare for our first leg. I am waiting for him to plot our course so that I can see if there is dog friendly accom and places we can board her for a day or so (so we can go to none dog friendly places, National Parks don't allow dogs so we may need her to go for a night or two to enable us to do some of the tracks) I would really like to take Ruby on this one with us.

Not really summer holidays but in October we are looking at going to Suffolk for a week - it's a county, 100 miles or so North East from London. Bird watching and peace and quiet - it's divali time here then [Hindu festival of lights - fireworks galore, night after night after night]. Small cottage, just us and the dogs.
