Yes Doreen- As you noted and all can see by my avitar--Wally has been to see Santa. Years ago when our lab mix was a puppy I started taking her to a fundraiser done here by the Humane Society called Santa Paws. For $20 they take your pet's photo with Santa, and you get 2 5x7 prints, and (back then) the negatives--now a CD with the images. We've used these photos as our Christmas Cards ever since. It's great fun, and some years we've been in the photos too. The annual "Family Portrait" as it were!

Does anyone have advise regarding decorations and trees with their boxers? We didn't decorate last year (the decorations were UTL in the post-remodel basement!) and I'm not sure I should trust Wally around an unprotected tree!

i am already planing on leaving the bottom half of the tree bare. we had to do that last year for Brandon and now i think we should do it again for Bo. it doesnt look as pretty with just lights down there but its better then having them all chewed up we will see how it goes for us.

Peaches leaves the tree alone for the most part... The only time it's a concern is when the cat takes refuge in it but it's more a tipping over thing.

Yup, we put the tree up today and the bottom half has nothing on it because Charlie wants to chew the tree.

When I get round to it, I put my tree up on a table and push it back so it's kind of out of their reach. I guess the only way to find out if Wally is trustworthy or not is to decorate the tree with something harmless first - eg, plain paper decorations, and see what happens. Either way, I wouldn't trust mine even though they are adults, shiney glittery things...all too appealing I think.

I think you are right! As for putting the tree 'out of reach'--Wally has discovered he can reach pretty much anything that is table or counter high----whether or not it is waaaaay in the back! (the butter container now lives in the cupboard!) We have a fake tree (allergies) and it will be on a table--I definitely think the 'non breakable' and Dollar Store decorations are in order!

We haven't decided if we are getting a tree yet. I'm sure Newman would love one though

This has been our solution and will be again this year. I'm afraid to not use the baby fence yet. It also might keep them from running into it when they are going wild inside. I don't think they would try to eat it anymore like they used to.
But I am thinking of putting the tree up in the family room instead this year, so I can have more room for my dining room table when I expand it for Christmas Eve dinner. I haven't told DH yet, LOL. Guess we will probably be doing that this weekend. We couldn't put it in there before because I had 2 dog crates in there last year.

Oh, and there are no decorations on it. It looks good enough with just the lights, so I just put the star on top and that's it, LOL.

We have a smaller tree up on a end table, so it's off the floor. Of course Shenzi decided she wanted to eat it. Came out of the bathroom the other day to find up a lot of torn up garland! I'm determined to teach her to leave it alone. I think the longer it's up, the less she cares about it. So far so good!

we picked up our tree to day and got it put into the stand, its not decorated yet since we spent the day helping my hubbies grandmother decorate hers(shes like 75 and is losing her memory so a 1 hour job turns into a 3 hour job) but anyway its up and so far bo has tried to eat it 12 times, but he is slowing down about it. we will decorate it tomorrow and see how that goes.
