Hey all, last time we went away I meant to post pics and stuff when we got home but I was so busy I didn't get around to it, sooo this time I'm going to try to do it as we go.
We left home at 3:30am yesterday morning and drove for 11 1/2 hrs to Hay on the Murrumbidgee River in outback New South Wales where we stayed just for the night. I didn't get many photos as I was so tired. The town was very pretty and kinda old fashioned (which I loved) but boy there were bugs, bugs every where - we had to buy some flyscreen and put in over the front of the car to stop them getting in the radiator.
This is what is in the outback - NOTHING

Finally, something to look at

This morning we left and drove for 4 hours to Mildura in Victoria. It was beautiful driving in, there are vineyards and orchards lining the highway. We are staying on the banks of the Murray River for a few nights. It was over 43 deg C here today, it is the kind of heat I have never experienced before (I'm used to my coastal breezes lol) you try to dry off after a swim and you still feel wet it is so hot. We are hoping to head out and go down the Murray on one of the old Paddle Boats tomorrow.
I am trying to upload some pics but am having some trouble - internet not real good, so I'll log out and try to upload them again and come back and add them if they finally work. Damn bugs are out in force they are all over the lap-top screen
Couple of sunset pics

I love pictures of interesting trees

This is an old pump house on the Murray, you can see they have marked the years and water levels from the floods.

Here is a pic of a vineyard that wouldn't upload last time

LOL I didn't notice, it is probably old bits of rope as some of the older kids hang them from the trees on the river bank to swing out and drop into the river.

On Saturday we managed to go on a cruise down the Murray River a bit on a restored Paddle Steamer that used to work the river, here are a couple of pics

George Chaffey Bridge Mildura VIC

My monkies at the front of the Paddle Boat

There has been flooding in parts of Australia and as a result the water level in the Murray is 3m above the normal level

The Melbourne a Paddle Steamer that has been restored

We left Mildura at 5:30 am yesterday (Sunday) morning and drove for approx 9 hours, we crossed the Victorian border into South Australia and finally reached our spot for the next few days in Port Augusta. Not as many bugs here and Port Augusta is "where the outback meets the sea" so we are getting some lovely sea breezes to help ease the heat. The dirt is so red here and nothing grows very well (most front yards are dirt, rock or wood chip as people have given up trying to get something to grow lol).

A couple of pics from the drive

For you Ron, a lovely blue summer sky

These are where we are now in Port Augusta

We are heading out on an Eco Cruise first thing in the morning, I hope to get to see the Flinders Ranges and get some nice pics

Ditto - re the flooding - its made the news over here too. So funny for me to see the hay all rolled up like being as it's winter over here. It is lovely seeing these pictures though, it's like we are on holiday with you, please keep them coming.
