Plans For The Summer?

What is everyone up to this summer?

We're going on a few canoe trips (first one in 3 weeks) and we're heading to Newfoundland for a month... Actually we're taking a week to get there, staying two weeks and taking a week to get back.

Should be an action packed summer!

Our daughter is having a baby and moving to the south so we plan on helping them. They have a 2 1/2 yr old now, so they will be busy and will appreciate any help.

Other than that, Michigan in the summer is a great place to be so we plan on enjoying it. Mike will plan on using vacation days to take 3 day weekends and we live in a tourist destination spot already so we'll just hang out at home with our Buddy!

not too much, i love it here in lower michigan so it will be mostly just days out going to the zoo and stuff like that.. but last summer my mom moved up north about 8 hours away so we plan on taking a week off and going up there to visit so she can babysit while we do some other fun stuff like golfing.. this is the first summer that bran is really old enough to have some real fun with so i am excited about it

My girlfriend and I are going on an Alaska cruise in August! (hubby has no interest--what's up with that??) We are meeting tonight to go over the info and decide what land excursions we want to do (definitely know we want to do the dog sledding and playing with puppies one!) I've never been on one, so this should be great fun---even though Wally has to stay home with Dad!

i love the idea of an Alaska cruise. Been thinking about doing for a whle. Maybe this fall

My friend has gone on several cruises, and loves them. We're going to be on the Sapphire Princess (Princess Cruises) and apparently they only do Alaska until about the middle of September, then the ships move to the Caribbean or South America because of the weather. We're going up the Inside Passage and will stop at Skagway, Ketchekan, and Jeaneau. I'm so excited!

We haven't gone on any REAL vacations in years since my mom used to be our dog baby sitter and has been sick and gone for a long time now, plus I have no ambition to go anywhere anymore... did all the traveling I wanted to do in our younger years. Now Ron, like Sally's husband, takes his vacation days on Friday's and some Monday's to stretch out his weekends. We usually do our beach days on those days since we don't live to far from the beach and boardwalk and don't have to have anyone stay with the dogs. We are beach people, plus we have a nice heated pool too, so don't really need to go anywhere for relaxation at this stage of the game, LOL. I am also babysitting 2 days a week with the grandkids so that is also fun, but like vacations, can be an exhausting kind of fun at my age, LOL.

We also have others who come to visit with us throughout the summer, more pool time, so never a dull moment here.

We have extended weekends that will be at dog shows, our Dachshund Nationals is right in my backyard this year (25 miles from home) that is in mid May, then off to Kalamazoo for the Memorial weekend, then at the end of July our Kennel club (Waukesha) has it's big shows with combined specialty shows as well, they run from friday to Tuesday.

then in Oct or November I'll take a week and visit my dear friend on Washington Island at the tip of Green Bay Wisconsin, it is so wonderful there, I truly love it. My poor Michael will have to stay home and puppy sit...

I love cruises, Lori. Never been to Alaska though. I hear it's beautiful.

Ron, when is your baby due? I forgot. Is Annie going on the canoe trip?

Marylou, the Washington Island trip sounds like fun. I've never been there either but it sounds like a nice place to visit with your friend.

We are all going away first week of May.........yahoo........can't wait to get out of London for the week. We aren't going too far, to a place called Somerset, South-West direction of London, about 4 hours driving time and 140-150 miles in distance. Lots of long walks with the dogs, and hopefully some bird watching too. As for the summer itself, just boarding dogs whilst others go on holiday.
