Hope everyone that was affected by Irene is ok. Glad she's out of here and we can focus on cleaning up and getting ready for fall.
We live at the Jersey shore (a couple miles from beach). We had branches and debris but thankfully no real damage. It was pretty intense at times and we even had tornado warnings all through the night.
Missi, that earthquake experience sounded scary. We felt it that day, but only for maybe five seconds. It made me think that I was disoriented or something until I realized what had happened.
Lucky was at my in-laws house the day of the earthquake and they said she was walking in circles around their dining room table minutes before we felt in NJ. Amazing how they can tell something is happening before us. During hte hurricane, she was fine, even went out to the bathroom before it got bad and then again in the morning... such a good girl.

Hi all. We are all fine. Still have no power since Saturday night. Going a little stir crazy by now. Listening to a little battery operated radio to hear what hope there might be of getting elective again. Word is by 9/4!!! I am happy it is cool, no AC needed! Typing all on this little keypad of this cellphone. take it out to car to recharge before dark. Then waking around with flashlights. I dread night time, LOL. We went to bed by 9:00 since there was nothing else to do anymore, LOL. Just listen to radio.
Sister in law went home last night before dark. She has power. We cooked everything on grill, pork roll, ravioli, toast, LOL. Ventured out for breakfast this morning with Ron then to donate my blood for my surgery. We will have to clean out 2 refrigerators as food won't be good after today.
I sure hope they fix the downed power lines around the corner soon so we get power, but can't complain after now just listening to radio with all the deaths they are reporting here.
Ok. Hope to next time be typing on a real computer or iPad!

Sounds like quite the experience. Glad you are okay. The pics on TV show NJ got hit pretty hard. Hopefully all your food's not ruined but at least your house and loved ones are fine!

We are VERY lucky. No damage, no flooding right in my area so I am very thankful after what I am seeing on the news! I do have to throw out most of my foods from 2 refrigerators, well really one & 1/2. The garage one I only keep things like flour, baking things, some beer, but the freezer I fill so that will take a big hit. Our power was out for 3 days. Things got soft out there except for a box of Omaha steak burgers! LOL. They were on the bottom & are solid.
My kitchen freezer, the meats on the bottom stayed solid, but lost all frozen veggies & a box of ice cream bars which I was going to toss anyway. Not a big ice cream fan. It is all the foods in the fridge I have to toss....eggs, millk, sour cream, cream cheese, Salad dressings etc. I guess I could get away with the mustard, ketchup etc since they were still chilled.

Doreen, your situation was like a lot of my friends without power. In fact I still have friends without power today. I guess my neighborhood lucked out not losing power or flooding.

Glad you were spared. On NJ news 12 it is so bad in so many places.... still seeing rescues, and 7 deaths. I count my blessings that I only have to throw out some frozen foods and and dairy products!!!!!

Yeah, it could have been worse. We both were lucky. Hopefully we won't see another hurricane around here for 100+ years.
