Bracing for the storm...

Well, as I'm sure you are all hearing, we hear on the eastern seaboard are bracing for Hurricane Irene.....
It is gorgeous here today. As a matter of fact, Ron and I just came back from a nice lunch down near the ocean earlier.
I am only hoping we don't loose electricity... can't live without my AC or my internet, LOL. But if you don't hear from me for awhile, you know we lost electric!!!
Not looking forward to having to take the pups out in the rain again, but got some tips. Have them potty in the garage or basement. Don't have a basement, so garage it is..... after training them to never go inside... this might be a tough sell, but I guess if they have to go bad enough and I keep repeating.... go potty, go potty, go potty, they might get the hint and finally go in the garage? We shall see.
OK.... Guess I should turn on the TV and see what the storm is up too. I sure hope it is getting down graded. Just the other day we had an earthquake! I couldn't believe that one!!! I put the collars on the dogs, leased them and ran outside with them.... scary stuff. I was afraid I had a gas explosion in my house with that large BOOM I heard. I even called 911 about the explosion.

My goodness how frightening. I read something about the eartquake in the newspaper here earlier this week. The hurricane was on the news here this evening. I sure hope it doesn't cause too much damage, please let us know you are okay.

I've been watching the news--how scary! and never thought about where you'd take the pups when they needed to go 'out'--the garage has to be the answer-at least you can hose it out. maybe if you can put a bit of soil on the floor, they'd get the message better? Hard to say. We have earthquakes out here (nothing like California, but a few good shakers in the past 10+ years), but had never heard of any on the East Coast! Please be safe, and let us know when you get the 'All Clear'!

Still bracing for storm. Ron is outside now looking for anymore things to tie down or bring in. I've been making a list as I think of things
Ron's sister & her daughter are coming to stay with us through the storm as she lives in a trailer. Besides the wind factor, her trailer court floods behind her where there is a creek. She is nervous about leaving it, but scared at the same time. It's a very pretty place, but hurricanes don't care!
I've been doing all my laundry & vacuuming in case we loose electricity, LOL. At least well have clean clothes and clean floors in the darkness, LOL. Going to do the sheets now.... Hope to be back on here tomorrow!

Doreen you are funny, worrying about hoovering & laundary. Do you have some basic supplies in - bottled water & some tins of food, torches etc? I am keeping an eye on the news here and it looks pretty bad - how far are you from the coast line? there seems to be a lot of talk of flooding and evacuations too. I sure hope you & your family will be okay, stay safe Doreen and stay in touch, thinking of you.

Hope you are o.k. Doreen .
We got hit by the storm last night . Things got pretty wild and we decided at 3am to move everyone down to the basement .
Woke up this a.m. with no power but no major damage ,a few huge branches came down , some trees across the road and lots of mess to clean up.
The earthquake was quite intense for us here . A good 40 seconds of shaking and rocking .
