Those are 2 very good tips--I know about charging only when they are really low, but didn't know to take them out--is that only when you won't be using for a few weeks, or pretty much any down time (like if you were to use it once a week, should you take them out?)
Wally is already tired of me pointing that thing at him. I want to take some nice portraits of him and then try to get them on line for everyone's viewing pleasure

Lori I take my battery out at the end of the day when I am finished taking any pictures. My Canon is great because I do not have to keep loading in any info [date, time etc]everytime I put the battery back in again, even if I leave the battery out for weeks! The Nikon compact that I have is pain because it seems that most times I do have to load the info back in again, although in fairness it doesn't really take long. If you aren't using the camera for a week, I would take the battery out.
