The only caution I'd give on the chicken or beef broth would be if you are using canned be sure to get the low/no salt variety--making your own would be much better (for you too!)

You have to be careful of the broth with the high sodium content. Use low sodium.

oops... didn't see Lori's post.... well, at least you know I wasn't making it up, LOL.

Easier still - make your own broth. It's real simple - just buy some soup bones or marrow bones, boil them up for a half an hour or so, chuck the cooked bones away, let broth cool and serve..............voila, easy...

As for adding chicken livers, yes, they will add more protein, I doubt it would have her bouncing off the walls with extra energy nor do I think it will bulk her out much either.......

I would only add a little liver though for the simple reason that liver is very rich in Vitamin A, kibble is usually quite sufficient in this vitamin already, too much Vitamin A gets stored in the body and can be toxic - it is not like Vit C that gets passed out as water..... Given raw, liver can cause very bad diarrhorea - when I first introduced it to my dogs, I gave it 5g increments......not sure whether cooked liver would have the same effect.
