Default Collitis

Hi am new here, I am a first time Boxer Owner of CodyPlease allow me to explain Codys Journey so far

Cody is almost 9months and suffers with collitis, which is controlled by diet....occasionally during a bad bout she'll be given tablets.

Cody eats 2 meals a day of Dry food & another of Chicken and Rice, My problem is that she eats & eats yet gains no weight, The vet however dosn't seemed that concerned about this....at last weight in 3 weeks ago Cody only weighed 19kgs Isn't that a bit thin? I am constandly scruntanised about her weight and given 'those' Looks by fellow dogwalkers when out.

I 'rescued' my poor pup after going to see her at the breeders home at 12weeks....there i found 2 little ones ! brindle female & Cody....Hook,Line & sinker! i think the phrase is. I paid my cash got my pup, only then the heatlh issues came, I took her to a vet straight away whom agreed that she was malnourished, At 12 weeks my Pup was only Just 6.5kg, had grade 1 heart murmer, ear infections, etc.

Cody has repeatly suffered from ear infections, Collitis was dianignosed a few months ago after she ket passing bloody stools.....and 3 weeks ago my little girl had to get a hystrectomny (Hadn't even had 1st season) after getting Pyemetra!!!!

So to the point....can anyone recommend any recipies ii could try in order to help weight gain?

Thanks

Have you considered switching your pup to a RAW diet? I've head that dogs suffering from colitis so fairly well on this type of diet.

Keeps has colitis as well and the raw diet has changed his (and our) life. He is so healthy now. He has so much energy and he nearly stopped shedding. He will still have some stress related flare ups but he is nearly 100%. He even ate a bar of soap a few weeks ago and had solid poop the next day. He has also gained nearly 6 pounds on this diet.

It is expensive but in my opinion totally worth it. Many dogs with colitis have complete turn arounds on raw. It is a totally natural, safe and healthy choice. I feed premade raw from the pet store but do plan on eventually making my own.

Roscoe had a bout of it too when we brought him home was on "ID" diet for a while and on some flagyl too, he got rid of the colitis but continued to have the loosy goosey poopies, I just changed him to the Calafornia Natural to see if that helps. I'll let ya know
