To remove this ad please Register
I've just broke my second second vacuum and i think it may be time to pony up and buy a Dyson
I know a couple of you on here have mentioned you own one. The one i'm looking at is the Dyson DC23 Motorhead Animal
Anyone here have this model? How is it on furniture?

I have an upright one, we chose that because you get the "best of both" - you can use it as an upright (with built in motor head that you can turn on or off) or similar to the canister type (with hose and floor/upholstery attachment) to do stairs, furniture, car etc. It is great on furniture, I just did my car yesterday with it and got a TON on sand and dog hair and neither of those are the easiest things to get off carpet and upholstery. Performance wise (suction) I don't think it would matter if it were the upright or canister I just prefer the upright when doing large areas (it can take me 1 - 1 1/2 hrs to do the house sometimes if I'm being anal) it's nicer on your back

What she said We have the upright too because it is great on floors and furniture. Plus I vacuum the floors at least twice a week and the upright is easier for quick run throughs.
You'll LOVE it, no matter which one you choose!

Does Dyson have one that isn't an upright? I never saw that advertised. I have the regular Dyson, not the animal one. I didn't think the animal one was much different than the regular one, so I didn't want to spend the extra maybe $40 back then. Had if for about 4 or 5 years now and I love it. I figured if it was only a matter of one attachment, I could always order that separately later on. Guess I didn't need it cause mine does whatever I need to do.
I just googled them. I have the old one, DC14, which was the original. I don't see the other one they offered at the time, which was purple, now I see the purple one with the ball. I wish I had the ball, would just make it a little easier to maneuver. I really never knew they had a canister. I always hated dragging around a canister. I just wish they had an automatic cord rewinder, my only peeve is having to have the cord out all the time, even if you just want to do a small area with the wand. Someone should invent a cord that goes in and out as needed while vacuuming too, LOL.

I have a bissell healthy home , my mom has the dyson animal . They are very similar ( except for the $$) . They are both great at getting tons of hair ,dirt & stuff out of the carpet that you never knew was even there .
Mine also has a very long suction hose to do stairs and furniture .

I have the Dyson DC25 Animal, which has the mini turbine head Generic_Mini_turbine_head.jpg designed to "Cleans pet hair and dirt from confined spaces such as upholstery, stairs and the car." Like every other Dyson owner - I love it.
Our kids each have one and told us how great they were. I actually like to vacuum because I see all that comes out. It never ceases to amaze me!

i picked up the dyson dc23 yesterday. I have to admit it was kinda fun seeing all the crap it picked up. So much dust and dirt from the sofa it's insane. My carpets finally look hair free....for a few days.

Seeing all that gets picked up is quite the positive incentive. Even when I think things look pretty good, I'm amazed at what it pulls out! I'm sure you won't regret getting it.
