Give the dog a bone

Buddy goes through bully sticks like we're made out of money. So I got him a really large femur from the butcher, which he manages to toss around and has put divots in our hardwood floor.

So today I went back and asked for the largest femur they had, complete with the end joints. Let's see him throw THAT baby around!

On my way home, I stopped by the car wash and as the guy was taking my money and chatting, I saw a real strange look cross his face and he suddenly got quiet. I didn't realize until I was pulling away that I had that thing laying on the passenger seat! He probably called the cops after I left, lol!!!

He's trying to drag it off to some (carpeted) corner of the house but I'm not letting him. Bad enough he's marked up the hardwood floors, I don't need blood stains and bone fragments on the carpet - especially if the police are on the way!

Well after a day of that, we finally took it away last night. He kept trying to drag it off somewhere and also it had a lot more tendons and flesh on it so it left blood droplets and other bio-waste on the floors. We tried trimming them off, but it still was a mess. After a day of that, dh & I finally looked at each other, said, "Well, we tried something new and it didn't work out." Buddy was quite sad.

I gave him a $4-5 Merrick hambone to assuage my guilt, and he demolished it in ~20 minutes. YIKES! That dog can chew!

So this morning I ran the floor sanitizer/steamer over the floor to get them clean so I'm not grossed out and it's safe for small children again.

It was fun while it lasted.

I really miss that today. Right now it's 12 F with a windchill of -9F thanks to 30mph winds. It took me longer to get Buddy bundled up with his coat to take him outside and play (yes, he thought he wanted to go outside and play) than we actually spent out there. Once he felt that freezing wind he could hardly wait to do his business and head for the door!
