My husband and I went to our first NJ Boxer rescue meeting and signed up to be fosters. He also signed up for transporting and background checks too. I will go on transports with him if my time allowed.

I am anxious & scared, but know we said we would do this someday. I got a call from the woman who placed us with Rex and Coco asking if we would go to a meeting to see what me might want to do to volunteer. I was thinking more of when Rex and Coco calm down some. But at least Rex is in great health now, so one less thing to worry about. Feeding time should be fun with a third dog around! And they say not to have any toys around for the first couple of weeks! How will I pull that off? Coco has some chew toy in her mouth at all times. As a matter of fact, I just dusted under the furniture with my Swiffer sweeper and she thinks the purpose of that is to find all the toys she loses under there, LOL LOL.

Easy, send Coco to me!

I'm so excited for you, Doreen. I wish we could foster, but at the apartment we are at our dog limit. We did have a foster for a week and it was a great experience. Thank you for helping other boxers!

Good luck to you guys! I'm sure it will be a lot of help to them and I hope it's a fit for your family.

Doreen, I had 6 dogs to feed last week - took me nearly 45 minutes on the prep - everyone on a different diet too - LOL, 3 is a doodle! Don't worry - you'll get used to it and into a routine with it as well - it's best to feed them in separate places though so there's no potential for any fighting/squabbling over it. Have you thought about what you will feed the foster dog? I guess a lot of would depend on whether it was on a special diet already. Does your rescue centre cover food costs? Honey's doesn't, we cover that ourselves and it's up to us what we feed her, though they recommend the same food you feed your own dogs.

I don't know if they cover food... no biggie. I guess what the dog eats already is what I am suppose to feed.. I don't know. Guess I will get more instructions when I get one.

I already know to feed separately. AS of now, I feed Rex and Coco right next to each other with only a kitchen trash can between them. Coco finished first since I have Rex's in one of those special slow eating bowls, so she stands next to him with her face next to his, waiting for him to be done, so she can lick his bowl, LOL... I know that won't work with another new dog. I will feed that one in another room.

I know they have dogs that need foster, but they want to make sure that the one I get will be good with kids, they want to find a history on one first before giving it to me.

I bought a new crate yesterday, so I am ready!
