I have read that part of the reason dogs get their tails docked is so they avoid breaking them when older. Kind of like the reason Dew claws are removed...


I would interpret the tail dockings as not cosmetic IMO
I would interpret ear croppings as cosmetic IMO

When looking for a dog we noted that not having a tail was also a perk in a sense that with all my little skin kids wobbling around they don't get knocked over as much.... then we bought a boxer and learned about the "bum wiggle" and that theorey was tossed out
