I was waiting for a foster, Peaches, but she is going to someone who lives close to her until she gets her forever home in a couple weeks

It’s so frustrating isn’t it Doreen? I had that happen twice last week. First, Graham and I were all set to travel out 1 and a half hours to go pick him up, then it got cancelled – no idea why. Then a transport run got set up from the north of the country down to us, and that got pulled because of interest in the North. I have actually been contacting other boxer rescues - three quarters of them don’t even bother replying to you – I know they are busy, but what’s 2 minutes just to acknowledge the call/email! On Sunday we went out to a meeting of a boxer rescue nearer to our area, however, it seems that a lot of the boxers they take in have aggression issues, so we can’t really help them out.

At the moment Doreen, Graham and I are thinking of looking at more general dog rescue homes as opposed to just boxer rescues. However, neither of us are very impressed with the way these rescues seem to be run. They are always crying out/advertising for foster homes and yet they make very little, if any effort to deal with the offers of help they do get! On the rescue forums I have been on, offers of help [fostering] always seem to be on there and yet still the rescue claim they need more homes and that they have so many dogs in kennels? It just doesn’t make any sense to us!?!

I know.... Ron and I keep seeing Boxers in kennels also and wondering why, but figure they keep them in there while testing to see how they are with people and kids. I know I am hard to get a foster since I have to worry about my little grandkids being here all the time. They know they have to really make sure they are good with little kids before sending me a dog. That's why I am really at the bottom of the list, LOL. Plus they have to get along with my dogs.

This Peaches would have been really good since she was already staying in a foster home with a male and female boxers, but the foster family had a sudden death and that is why they couldn't keep Peaches at this time. Peaches new forever home is under construction and should be ready to take her in a couple of weeks. So she only needed someone to take her til then.

What a bummer!

How about another breed specific rescue of a different breed? Just so you have a bigger pool of possible dogs to help? It works out well for us since we have different breeds in the house to begin with.
