Dog Park Snobs

Are you a dog park snob?
I hate going to the dog park because some of the owners there are just weirdo dog snobs. Type of people who think they and their dogs are perfect and any issue is because of other people and their "bad" dogs.

We were real enthused the first number of time we went. Then Buddy got kennel cough after being exposed to a coughing dog there. And bit by another dog who's owner said, "He never bites." And chased off a play ramp by a dog that had to run across the park to get to him, while his owner did nothing.
So we just stopped going unless we were meeting up with someone we knew.
But we do take him to the beach and run which he loves and for some reason all the dogs we've met there have been great. And their owners too.

I wasn't too keen on the dog park we went to once. I thought Rex was going to get in a fight with a pit bull that kept bothering Coco... Rex was being protective of his "sister", LOL. Poor Coco was sort of scared being the smallest dog there. Most of them were Pits, Dobies, Shepard and something else. They all seemed to lean towards Coco, maybe since she seemed intimidated by all of them all over her. There was no actual "playing" at the dog park. My dogs had more fun at home in my back yard.
A new one opened in my neighborhood, but haven't tried it. I was surprised being brand new that they didn't have any kind of water supply there. I know it was a complaint by one of my friends that had gone there. When I had went to check it out, there weren't any dogs there, twice. I'm sure by now there must be on the weekends.

I am SO glad we don't have dog parks over here. We can take our dogs to most parks and they can run free and go where they like. This freedom is being gradually curtailed though with some parks now insisting that dogs be kept on leads at all times. At the moment though, most parks offer complete freedom and it's the kids play area that is fenced in.

We went a couple of times to a dog park and were met by dog park snobs too. We only go there now when there is no one else there. They don't like the way my two play with each other. They think it is aggressive and don't understand the noises that Gunner makes when playing. He sounds like Chewbacca from Star Wars.

It freaked me out at first and then I realized that is how they actually play. I'm sure from the outside, if you are not familiar with the breed, it would see like they were fighting.

our dog park in leduc is awesome and we very seldom have any issues.... it's a tighter knit group of people....
When we go to edmonton there are too many dogs, and too many people. It gets a little nerve wracking.
