Peaches is going fishing

My wife and I are taking Peaches and Ben our oldest boy camping at Long lake north a couple hours north of Edmonton. We are going with friends to the Annual Gasco family fishing Derby. Ben caught his second fish last weekend "a slough shark daddy!" which is slang for a small Northern Pike.
Peaches enjoys boat rides as she gets all the benefits of free range as well as the ability to hang her head out the window with out 'hanging her head out' ha ha.
As for camping. We are tenting and No Ron, Peaches is not allowed to sleep in my tent. She will be sleeping in her kennel in the front porch of the tent.

You have a tent with a front porch???? Equipment must have really improved since I went camping....... back in those days [ok, it was some 30 years ago!], it was like a canvas tent that opened up both ends and you closed it through weaving rope in and out of holes. At both ends of the tent and in the middle of the tent were poles that held it up and that was pretty much it - no porch, nothing. All I can remember was that if it rained you had to run out and loosen the guy lines as the canvas stretched. Anyway, hope you had fun, did Peaches catch any fish?

I was wondering about that front porch too, LOL.... but I know nothing of camping or tents... only what I see on TV in movies, LOL.

I did my time camping as a kid--now my camping MUST have indoor facilities, and cable would be nice as well! (I call it a hotel!) I'm sure Wally would enjoy snoofing around in the woods--but first we need to introduce him to the Pacific Ocean. HAVE to do that this summer! (It's only a couple of hours away, but we just never seem to make the time.)

yeah it has a front foyer that you can put some gear in to keep it out of the rain... in our case it's the dogs kennel.
And we had a great weekend! Ben won the under 7 category with a 51 cm Northern Pike. My wife caught a 53 cm walleye and a 55 cm northern pike... I had a 53 northern pike. the winners were a 55 cm walleye and a 62 cm northern pike. We caught a total of about 30 fish in 2 days.
Peaches enjoyed boating around although it was quite hot. We also think she is on the verge of going into heat but are not sure if it was the hot weather that triggered behaviour changes.

Those are great pictures - I love the first one of Peaches and your family shot - so cute. Congrats Ben on winning in his age group - how nice for him - pity your wife was only out 2cm with her walleye. Wow you caught so many fish - what did you do with them? Do you keep them for freezing/eating or put them back in the lake? I have to say the fish are quite ugly looking - especially the last one - it looks abit like a lizard but without any legs.

the last one is the walleye and they are catch and release only - you are only allowed to keep 1 northern pike per license holder but it has to be over 63 cms... in other words no keepers... but that's ok because I'm not a big fish eater and def not a fish cleaner.
Northern pike are good eating but only when you pull them through the ice (IMO) because they get too mushy in the summer.
Walleye are excellent eating fish but most lakes that I fish have a catch and release only policy.
And yes the fish are ugly. They often have leeches on them too and their teeth are quite sharp.
