We actually live about 30-40 min from where that happened. But I don't recall hearing it in the local news.

"Then one night, after a heavy night of drinking alcohol, he blacked out and his dog, Kiko, crawled into bed and ate his big toe." It strikes me that he has a much bigger problem than an infected toe if he's so sedated that essentially surgery can be performed without his waking. I hope he gets help.

Eeewww is right! I agree there are bigger issues here than the infected toe--can you imagine being that far under you don't notice something is CHEWING OFF YOUR TOE!! Yow!!

True, but at least the dog had the sense to do something about it - how could the owner just leave it like that, rotting away infront of his eyes - didn't the toe hurt him at all? The mind boggles...............

His wife was a nurse....you think she would have noticed his rotting flesh. I'm sure it smelled

Yeah, but somehow I have the feeling this was not a guy who listens to reason. In this article it says, "Rosee suspected her husband was a diabetes candidate and urged him many times to be checked. He resisted, however, fearing the diagnosis. His brother died some years back from complications of diabetes."

Denial is a powerful thing.
