Weighing your dog

I just went and weighed Deuce on the calibrated scale at Petsmart and he still weighed 34 pounds. He turned 4 months old today and from what my scale said two weeks ago is what their scale said today. Is there that much difference in weighing on a home scale and theirs? I usually weigh myself then pick him up and subtract. I am not sure why they have a 3-5 pound difference.

Thank you for the response!! So what do you normally go off of? I am assuming the vets scale or the calibrated scale at Petsmart is more accurate than mine. Also when I brought Deuce over there and he weighed him the guy said that he might get around 50 pounds full grown. I found this to be very conservative considering he is already 34 pounds and only 4 months old. His dad was 90 and his mom was around 75 pounds. The guy said he has had a few boxers before and that my guy is close to one of his that was only 60 pounds full grown. What do you think about this?

Mom and dad are both overweight. Avg. weights are females 55-65lbs and males 60-70lbs.

those parents are big. i wouldnt consider them overweight, they are probly just very tall and solid. i would just stick with your own scale, untill he is full grown or it needs to be accurate for the vet, cuz as long as he is gaining wieght it doesnt matter really how much he weighs. its funny that they estimated him to be so small, Bo is 3 1/2 months old and is about 37 lbs, but his mom was 65 lbs and his dad was 75 lbs. our vet estimates him to weigh about 80 lbs when full grown, every boxer is different and with the size yours parents he will probly be more like 90 like the dad.

Thank you for the common sense approach. They are very leggy and lean. I find it funny how people just jump to conclusions and assume that because they are not in the "normal" range that they are fat.

I would say stick to one scale only.... Just like myself. Of course every dr. I go to, is different by 2-5 lbs from my scale. I know by weighing myself weekly on the same scale at home if I truly gained or lost and how much. Or if I had been going to a dr. that always had the same scale weekly..... same thing. For Rex and Coco, I always ask to use the same scale, the one in the waiting room, not any of the 3 different ones in each of the individual exam rooms, since the very first time they weighed each of my dogs, it was out in the waiting room.

our neighbour has an 85 lbs female... She isn't a dime overweight. the breed guidelines are the upper perimeters of the bell curve... there will always be dogs outside the desired specs..
Peaches is 40 lbs and a year and a half old.... doubt she is gettin much bigger.
