That is totally up to you .
ARVC is usually found in older dogs , that does not mean a younger dog will not have / get it . But holter data shows older dogs will tend to be the ones who are throwing 100's or 1000's of VPC's even if they have no other signs of the disease .So holtering at a young age or even just once may not give you any long term information . It is multiple holters throuout the dogs life that will let you know whether he is still clear of ARVC .
You could holter him , it can cost $150-$200 to rent a monitor and then $30-$50 to have the tape read .
When you holter and it comes back with a high number of VPC's that does NOT mean the dog will die of ARVC .
My old oy Titan was holtered at age 5-6 , he had over 500 VPC's with some doubles . But he lived to just shy of 13 with never having any outward signs of ARVC . He passed of cancer .
