Well, I knew the day would come sometime, and today it did. Ruby caught a squirrel and she killed it. It was horrid, she grabbed it in her mouth and she shook and shook it so viciously. I screamed at her to "leave it" but she didn't listen. I always wondered what she would do, now I know, I wish I didn't. It also makes a big dilema for me - I only let her off-lead on the open fields so I can see where she is running off too on her squirrel hunts, in the woods she has to be on lead all the time. So what to do. I tried getting her to stop it by checking her on the lead, but it's just impossible, the second I let her off lead she runs off looking for them. Don't get me wrong, her recall is really good unless she sees one, then she goes deaf. So, do I keep her on-lead the whole time then? Chasing after squirrels is one of her biggest pleasures in life............ but then, poor squirrels...........
