Default How should i meet my dog with other dogs

My Siberian Husky HATES other dogs. He will yelp and bark at the other dog even if he sees the dog through the window accross the street.

I have tried meeting Ron's dogs with him but that didn't go over well.

Any tips? It would be awesome.

Thanks in advance

I'm too chicken to attempt that one. I would see a behavior therapy trainer with that.

When you say "I have tried meeting Ron's dogs with him but that didn't go over well." what happened?

I can see where dogs might bark at a distance, but I'm wondering if they were allowed to meet, sniff butts, etc. in a controlled way, if that would go better.

From a distance, Buddy might bark or whine when seeing a dog, but when they have the chance to meet, he usually takes a submissive posture and then after the butt sniffing thing, they're off and running. When he was younger he was easily overwhelmed by larger dogs, but now that he's come into his own, we need to be sure he doesn't start to box or intimidate other dogs (which he means playfully, but it's not so much fun if you don't box.).

take him to a neutral territory. off leash is actually better.i would try taking him to a doggie day care for a short amount of time, so he gets to meet alot of different dogs but with you not in the picture he wont be protective over you. maybe ron could take his dogs there at the same time too so they could meet like that. what does he do when he meets a new dog up close?
