Give your dogs and extra extra cuddle...
To remove this ad please Register
...because this week I have had to take the poor old Rhodesian Ridgeback that I have walked for 3 years plus to the vets to be put to sleep. It was so sad, he had cancer of the bladder and nothing could be done about it.
He was one of the best dogs I have ever walked. No trouble with other dogs and never went more than a few feet away from me. So sad in a way that his owner was just too distraught to take him on his final journey. Anyway, always hits home when this happens, so for today please just give your dogs an extra extra cuddle because however long we have them for, it just isn't long enough.

Awwww... so sad.... We were thinking of getting R. Ridgeback before we went with boxers. Great dogs. Sorry you had to go through that today. Not a good thing to have to do.

Stephanie, you are an angel to help someone in this most awful time of need. We will hug all our babies extra tonight...

That is such a lovely thing for you to do for them. Such a hard thing to do whether it's your dog or someone elses. They are very lucky to have you.

It was hard, no question. Such a loving and affectionate dog, I am glad I was there to hold him and reassure him. I just couldn't bear to think of him leaving with just the vets around him. He didn't like the vets much as it was.
Picture of him here - 3rd in from the left.

They were looking for treats. Every now and then I throw a good handful on the grass for them to sniff out and find. I can play it with this group of dogs - they don't fight or argue over the food.
