. . . . in color? They are a species of scarab beetles, and are only 1/2 to 5/8 inches long. You really cannot see that hairy stuff on their bellies. It is the flying that is so irritating and their "thorny" little legs that grab on to your hair and clothing. We also have shiny green scarab beetles. I don't mind picking up the June Bugs and throwing them out of the house, but as yet have never touched a green one. We tried turning off the outside lights last night thinking that would keep them away from the house, but they were attracted to the lights from inside the house. They are attracting toads and snakes, AND puppies! ARG!

In the summer we used to get lots of beetles in our swimming pool at our old house, but don't notice them here and it is only 15 minutes away, LOL. But they are darker in color, not like cracker jack, LOL. We always called them Japanese beetles... don't know if that is what they really were called, but I guess that is what I was told growing up.
