Default Does your boxer lick unusual things?

Since we’ve had Ruby, we notice that she has a bit of a thing for licking things as well as us! In the house, she has always liked licking the chair legs and the patio windows. In the car, the windows again as well as the back of the car seats. I wasn’t greatly concerned about this behaviour, but lately I have seen her licking the tv remote, and today, she started licking the wallpaper in one of the bedrooms. She doesn’t do it for long, and if I call her or distract her with a toy she stops doing it and rarely goes back to it. She does it a couple of times a day, but as it's becoming more general, I was just wondering whether it was a common boxer thing? or whether it’s a Ruby thing? I’m not sure whether I should be worried about this or not!!!!!

[As an extra note, I only clean the windows with a splash of lemon juice and water – nothing chemically scented, the rest of the house is wiped over with just a wet duster].

I heard somewhere that licking makes them feel good and is a stress reliever.

Yeah, I heard that too, they sometimes do it when they are nervous and/or stressed. May stem from her life before you. I have also read it can be from being understimulated but from what you have said about always being around the dogs you walk and the dancing I doubt that would be the case with her. It is a good sign she will stop when you call her and distracting her with a toy or another positive behaviour is the right way to go.

Coco is a licker too. My last boxer, Roxy, used to lick the corners and edges of the floors at times. I would think that she had something wrong with her stomach because she would vomit later in the day after doing that. But Coco's stomach is fine. She is just a licker. Now that you brought up their past lives, maybe she had something that made her nervous too. I guess I'll never know. I just know she has nothing to be nervous here for. I'm the one that needs to be nervous with what shannigans they will be up to next, LOL.

Daisy is a licker - can't stop her tongue when it's excited, mostly the air near people or the people.
Archie, my chihuahua, licks the floor, the bed, the pillows, he's a stuff licker!!
