Is Georgie Too Heavy?
To remove this ad please Register
Someone on this forum mentioned recently that you should be able to see the back two ribs on a Boxer. You can't see any of Georgie's ribs at all. She is now 7 months old and 45lbs. I think Georgie is going to be a large girl when she grows up. I am posting a couple of pictures of Georgie that shows her body shape.

It's hard to tell without feeling her up, but I don't think she looks overweight. The ribs thing is more of a rule of thumb. Most boxers will fit in and others won't. I think it's far more important to judge their energy levels, healthiness of their coats, appetites, etc., as a measure of their general health, including weight. If she's showing signs that her weight may be bothering her or slowing her down you should probably just play it safe and visit the vet.

She looks good to me, not sure if it's the light or not but in the first pic you can see them very slightly. The ribs aren't supposed to show heaps but at certain angle, basically saying that they should be lean, not be thick over their ribs. When you run your had over her and can feel her ribs - shes good, you don't want them to stick out heaps, thats too skinny

has she said anything that would indicate she's feeling pudgy?
Like "Does this collar make my ass look fat?"
