Yesterday we had a family birthday party. Daisy came over to play with Georgie. Normally when Daisy comes her and Georgie play hard and only stop to catch their breath and then go at it again. Yesterday when Daisy got here Georgie was excited and they started to play. Georgie could only last a couple of minutes before she was panting super hard. She was panting so hard she was unable to play. It would take about 30 minutes and she would try to play and it would happen again. She would lay on the floor and pant so hard and her heart was beating so fast. After she ate her dinner she seemed fine and has been fine all day today. I have tried to keep her quiet and I am not taking her for her walk.

About a week or so ago she had been outside and it was hot. I don't think she was playing but when she came in the same thing happened. I thought maybe she had overheated and rubbed her down with a cool rag and just petted her till she was better.

I am so concerned she has something seriously wrong. I can't get her to the vet till Wednesday. Today was a holiday and my husband goes into the hospital tomorrow for surgery.

Oh Tanny, so sorry to hear she is out of sorts . Was it hot when it happened the second time? Could someone take her to the vet for you while you attend to your husband and his surgery? (hope all goes well with his surgery too, I will keep you both in my thoughts - it is hip or knee right?). I don't know what to say except what you already know and are doing - keep her quiet until you get to the vet and get to the vet as soon as you can. Sending lots of positive Boxer vibes and wiggles >>>><<<< to both Georgie and your husband.

What colour are her gums? Should be a nice coral colour. I had a look through my stuff and the panting and racing heart can be from soooo many things like heat stress, heart murmur, stress (eg during a thunder storm if they are scared of it), being unfit, side effect from eating chocolate, side effect from steroids and so many, many more . Sorry I can't be more helpful they are very common symptoms. Please keep us updated on how she is.

I would just try and keep her quiet until you can get her to a vet .
But do not be surprised if they do not find anything . See if they can check her heart AFTER they exercise her , it can make a difference if they do not find anything when she is relaxed .

Hoping for the best .

I have an appointment in the morning at 10:30. I am so worried about her. She has acted just fine since that attack all Sunday afternoon. I don't think I could handle anything happening to my Georgie.

She was at the vets all day. The Vet was concerned about her heart. Her heart looks good, the problem is her lungs are quite enlarged and that is causing her breathing issues. I don't know what that means till the vet gets the test results back. Needless to say I am a wreck with worry.
