Ok so Bella was outside trying to catch a bee...thanks to my neighbor who decided to cut down her VERY tall ornatmental grass that had a bee's nest in it...anyway..Bella got a bee sting on her upper lip. It is swelled up but shes not showing any change in her behavior from it. IS there something I can give her to help the swelling or should I just let it take its course unless she shows me different?

Benedryl... 1mg per pound of body weight. keepers is 50 pounds so he gets two adult tablets (they are 25 mg/each).

Feel better Bella!

Be sure to keep an eye on her for a while . Just in case she does get a reaction .

Edy got strung in the lip too, half of her muzzle swelled up but that was all . I gave her some benadrly and and the swelling went down .

Crystal, i'd posted about Memo's bee sting couple of wks back...he had a severe reaction, collapsing and hives...was rushed to vets and put on steroids, prednisone & benadryl. It was a terrifying experience, I don't want to scare you, but just monitor her...my breeders bitch got stung on lip too, and was prescribed prednisone & benadryl. I'd always give benadryl immediately after bee sting, better to be safe

Bella's swelling has gone down a good bit. She has ate dinner and is drinking and playing as normal. I havent got out yet to get the Benadryl yet but she is showing no signs of even being stung except for the swelling right after it happened...darn dogs trying to catch bee's...they have to keep us on our toes...

Jake chases bees around our yard all the time. Drives me crazy for fear that he'll catch one (and be sorry later). Never a dull minute with these dogs.
