What do you think?

Rex is still pooping so often.... I don't know where he is getting all of this from. Then the poor thing just stands there with his back arched waiting for more to come out. The funny thing is, How can he still have anything in him yet. I haven't given him a thing since yesterday at 5:00 pm? He must have been storing food all the way down to his toes!
Do you think I've been feeding him too much and it just built up in him? And.... should I still not feed him? The poor dog is walking around here crying and standing near the fridge! Not crying in pain, but crying cause he wants to eat. I was thinking 24 hours should be good enough, but if he is still trying so hard to go extra times, I'm not sure if I should. I was thinking maybe only a little rice. He is not having diarrhea. It is somewhat solid like he has normally been going, but just small amounts.
At least he is not going every half hour as he did through the night. It is getting stretched out to every 3 hours now.

Maybe give him half a meal? Or just rice and turkey?

Thanks Andrea... sounds good to me. I just wasn't sure if I should give him the turkey or not yet too.

We do 60% rice, 40% turkey for Boo when she is sick. Keepers gets about the same ratio but with potato.
Use white rice, not brown since white is easier on the tummy. I find overcooking the rice a bit helps the tummy also. Make sure he's drinking enough water too. Sometimes if my two aren't drinking I add in a bit of beef broth to the water to encourage them to drink.

I use white rice for Rex.. and yes, he is drinking... just got done drinking. I fed him half the amount of what he normally gets. Poor thing looks skinnier than ever to me today and his posture... he just isn't standing nice and tall as usual, but he is running around the house, playing with Coco as if nothing is wrong.
He went outside to poop againe as soon as he got done eating and he did go too. I mean it was immediate, so the food hadn't even gone down yet. There are times when he just thinks he needs to go out as soon as he ate since that is what we used to do. Recently, I've been trying to hold him off, hoping to let his food digest before he runs out the door and forces himself to go.
Right now he is standing watching the fire, LOL.. he looks mesmerized, LOL.

Do they have imodium for dogs? I have what I guess is IBS, and sometimes just need to 'shut the switch off' to give my intestines time to regroup. Maybe your vet could tell you if imodium is ok for dogs, and how much to give him according to his weight. Poor guy! I feel so sorry for him. Hope he feels better soon!

Stress can cause problems too and it sounds like you've had some bad storms, cold house, maybe other things? That's assuming he didn't get into anything in the yard, like bad berries. Also as he gets better, his body may go through periods where it's now well enough to throw out some more toxins. That's not uncommon from what I've read. So it's not necessarily something bad.
But if he's pooping right after eating (" I mean it was immediate, so the food hadn't even gone down yet.") then you probably should fast him. That's a gastrocolic reflex where the colon empties as soon as the stomach fills. By not putting anything in the stomach, you break the cycle and it resets.
Poor Rex. Maybe he can just go to bed early.
