Had To Take Georgie To The Vet
To remove this ad please Register
Last night Georgie kept me up all night drinking copulas amounts of water. She was up like every hour to 1 1/2 hours drinking tons of water. I figured I better take her in because that just was not normal. She may have a UTI and she is checking for other things. She has this hard lump that appeared on her head that the vet is quite concerned about. She did a needle aspiration on that and I am keeping my fingers crossed that it is nothing. Also about a week and a half ago Georgie started to limp when she gets up after laying down. She limps pretty bad but after a while she stops like when she gets loosened up. The Vet feels it is in her elbows. She is concerned about elbow dysplasia. When I get her fixed she will x ray at that time. She is just a baby!
BTW she weighs almost 55 lbs She is a big girl. I'll bet she is going to be at least 60 or 65lbs when she is full grown.

Awww Tanny... so sorry to hear this.... maybe she is growing to fast for her joints? I thought I heard this somewhere and that is why they have puppy food and not to rush to adult food. Not saying that is what you did, LOL. Just that weird things happen. Good you got the aspiration. Hopefully it will turn out fine as Rex's did last week.

Georgie is on a raw diet. Maybe she has growing pains??? I don't know if dogs get them. I need to research natural alternatives for her joints (Sally) The vet could tell that it is in her elbows. I too hope her aspiration comes out clear. It is a hard lump with no hair loss. She said the growth has to come off regardless of the results of the aspiration. They will still remove the growth when I get her fixed and she is already asleep.

Rex should have his removed too if he is ever under anesthesia, but not a rush to get it off at this moment.

What about glucosamine?
Natural Dog Supplements - Glucosamine
Glucosamine is a naturally occuring substance produced in an animal's body from glucose. Its function is to maintain and regenerate healthy cartilage in joints. As our dogs age, however, the production of glucosamine slows down. This, coupled with the normal wear and tear on the dogs' joints, results in degenerative joint diseases such as osteoarthritis... (For more information, visit our page on Glucosamine for Dogs)
this site has great natural remedies on it. Here is some info on Herbal Pain Remedies for Dogs but you can use their search feature to find whatever you are looking for.

Boo has bad knees and LOVES these. Not the best ingredients and I'm not sure they are have enough supplements in them, but they are a good training treat...
