Sounds good to me . I do puppy shots followed with a 1 year booster and titer after the 1 year .

The problem I run into most times is that many vets only carry the combo shots ( DHLPP -distemper-hepetitis- lepto -parvo -parainfluenza) .

If your vet can give only the Distemper & parvo . I think that would be great . It will not burden his immune syatem with too many vaccines all at once .

That is a great vaccination sechedule and because Dr. Dodds is fairly well known a lot of even more traditional vets will at least listen to what she has to say.

If your vet can't order the shots as individual shots go elsewhere. Assuming it is the same in Canada they should be able to get you what you need. They will tell you they don't want to because they have to order a whole case, if you can't convince them just call around until you find someone more reasonable.

I was unable to find someone who didn't have take the cocktail approach, and the more I read the more I was sure I didn't want to do that. I wasn't even sure I wanted any. We ended up only doing the Rabies at 4 months. Currently we are waiting to see if he will get a 1 year booster or if we'll ask for a waiver based on his reaction to the Rabies shot. Titers are not recognized in Michigan, but if his titers are positive, based on his history, I think we will request a waiver.

Dr. Ronald D. Shultz (member of the 2003 Canine Vaccine Task Force of the AMerican Animal Hospital Assoc. and head of Pathobiology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison) recommends one shot for distemper and parvo after 12 weeks of age. Two weeks later he woudl test titers and only re-vaccinate if they aren't strong. "With the exception of rabies, I have been vaccinating my dogs once with core vaccines and then never again."
