Default Wally's tail troubles --UPDATE!

Hi All--

Thought I'd give you the 'rest of the story' on Wally's tail issues. You may remember, this started back in November (!). We went through 2 series of antibiotics, and having the poor little guy run from me whenever he saw me after he pooped 'cause he knew what needed to happen. About a month ago, I called the vet and told her I wanted to figure out what the root of the problem might be, as while it was getting better, it was still an issue and had been going on for so long. I told her I wondered if it could be food related. Long story short(er), we put him on probiotics and mixed his Avoderm and Blue high protein food with the allergy-friendly sensitive stomach chicken, rice and oatmeal from Natural Balance (I think). The result? We've now had over a week with no pain in the butt! He lies down and waits for me to clean him even when I don't know he's been out, and no crying (from him or me!) I'm just using wet VIVA paper towels and they seem to do the trick. It was a long haul, but apparently Mr. Wally can't handle the high protein diet, and will need to stay on the probiotics. A small price to pay!
Thanks to everyone for your helpful ideas and support!

You both must be so relieved to have found the cause of the problem - so happy to hear it!
It is amazing how many "issues" are food related isn't it.
