When there are 3 or more missed beats in a row that is when a dog may faint as there is no heartbeat . Sometimes the dogs can recover on it's own and other times the dog may die .
As of right now it is considered normal for a dog to have some singles in any given day ( even people have them) . The big problem is when there are many runs . This is the reason to holter , if a dog is having runs of VPC's it may be an indication of arvc and should be seen by a cardiologist and may have to be taken out of the breeding population .
In many cases you would never know a dog is having runs of VPC's as they will not all show signs or faint .
My boy Titan was holtered and had over 500 vpc's with pairs and triples , yet he never had a fainting episode ( one we saw ), but after seeing a cardiologist he was found to have ARVC .
I had him neutered .
