Default Eye discharge

For the last couple of days Roddy has like a white milky coloured discharge coming from both his eyes. The consistancy, without wishing to sound rude, is like nasal snot. It has no other colour to it - no green or yellow to suggest an infection, but it's a bit wierd - I haven't seen this on any of my other dogs. I have been just wiping the stuff away, but it comes back so I am cleaning them maybe 3-4 times a day. He doesn't seem bothered by it, he doesn't seem to be scratching or rubbing them excessively or manically as if to suggest something was really wrong - but I'm a little puzzled/concerned by it.......any input appreciated.

I don't know but it makes me wonder if this is all part of his toxicity and need to purge from his system. Same underlying cause as the smelly wind.

Watching for food intolerance or sensitivity as an underlying cause, but if that seems to be okay, I'd be interested if the enzymes and probiotics help. Realize too that many times when you give the animal what it needs to heal, it actually gets worse for a bit - a sort of 'healing crisis'. It's quite common. The body senses it finally has what it needs for growth & repair and can move out of survival mode. It begins to shove out the toxins instead of trying to sequester them.

It may take 4-6 weeks of the enzymes and probiotic support to really see a turn around. But perhaps sooner depending on how long the underlying problem as been in place.

Keep us posted!

Thanks for that Sally, didn't even cross my mind that this could be the reason for it. I started him on the enyzmes and probiotics this evening, so fingers crossed it helps him. I will ofcourse let you know how he gets on. I don't know how much longer he will be here - I was asked if we could keep him a bit longer - he has a few little 'issues' that need some work, plus, there are so many male boxers in rescue at the moment and so many of the potential adopters all want bitches. We don't mind though, he is such a lovely boy, I so want to keep him - but Mr Common Sense Graham still holding out [as usual!].

We've been giving Ruby digestive enzymes since her first bout of pancreatitis and we've always given her natural yoghurt with live acidophilus and bifidus cultures. I have noticed a huge difference with the digestive enzymes - DH and I thought the other had given it to her once and she went off her food and boy she STUNK! Next day back on enzymes and the gas was gone and she was eating as usual so I hope they have the same results for Roddy. Eye discharge can be a symptom of allergies too so if it doesn't clear up you may want to look at a different protein - I read in your other post that you are feeding him a good quality kibble that doesn't have the "usual suspects" in it so I would look at the protein .
