Default Anyone tried Kinesoilogy with their dog?

Poor Roddy, it's never ending for him. Now he has come down with grass allergy - horrible red spots and pimples all over his tummy from running through the tall dried out grass. I really don't want him on antibiotics/steriods [in light of his other problems] which I just know the vet will prescribe, so I decided to try this option. I have sent a sample of his hair off and the practitioner is going to test them against 30 different things to see what it shows. She will then make a up a salve and send out some herbal powders for me to offer to Roddy to see whether he is licks them or not - it's kind of based on the idea that if he takes them then it is something his body needs, if he ignores them then it's not needed. It all sounds a bit "way out" to me tbh, but one of the other dogs I walk used to get grass allergy too and the owner tried this and it really worked for him, so fingers crossed for poor Roddy.

Here's the link, if you then click on "animal treatments" and then kinesoilogy it explains a little about it: http://www.theholisticapproach.co.uk/

I don't have any experience in kinesiology with pets, however I have seen some pretty amazing things with humans. This seems different from what I've observed though because in humans there is usually a "straight arm" muscle test with yes/no questions that test for weakness or other muscle testing. I've seen different practitioners use hair analysis but not for kinesiology ("the science of movement") testing. I've seen that more with testing for heavy metals, etc. But I don't know much about it, with regard to pets, so this will be interesting to hear more about.

Silly question, but are you sure it's a grass allergy and not bites of some sort?

I have never heard of any of these things before Sally - muscle testing or otherwise, it's all news to me but I am prepared to give it a go especially as it was recommended. I am glad to read you have heard of good results with it too, albeit that it seems like a different type of practice - we'll see, I'll let you know what happens anyway - what we get sent and what Roddy licks or doesn't!

Good thinking about the bites, not silly at all, but I am pretty sure it's not that, we don't have anything around here that would bite like that - nothing I can think of anyway. What convinces me that it is grass allergy is that it looks identical to the rash the little boston T got when he stayed here last year and had been running through the same fields. I took him to the vet at the time as I had no idea what it was at all - she said it was grass allergy - very common around my way during the summer, so I am almost 99.9 per cent sure that's what poor Roddy has. It looks dreadful, but thank goodness he doesn't seem bothered by it - he doesn't scratch it or bite it or anything, it just looks bad.

Not on animals, but it worked for my daughter.... way back when she was in high school and went for soccer injury reasons.

Well, now I don't know what to think about all this. Apparently she tested his hair against 30 different herbal remedies and the ones that he needed are these:

chickweed oil,
spearmint,
sea luck thorn,
neroli and
German Chamomile - have no idea what any of these are except the chamomile - but have no idea if German cham is any different from any other type of chamomile?

Here is a copy of what I got sent from the Practitioner, she also told me verbally that if Roddy showed any interest in a remedy I should offer him some on my hand.

So now there are quite a few videos on this, I wanted to test the treatments against the other dogs and in different ways just to see if there were any other factors influencing the decisions. I also added a pot of pure plain vegetable oil and a pot of water to see what they would do with that as well.

The first 2 videos are of Roddy and his first experience of the treatments:

and this was Roddy with plain water and plain cooking oil.............[sorry it's not
THAT funny, you had to be there I suppose]

So then I thought let's get Ruby and see what she does:

So I thought, maybe it's ME that makes the treatments more appealing so I put them in clean trays and tested Roddy and Ruby again:

Oh, I forgot to mentiont that his grass allergy is clearing up nicely - the practitioner made up a a salve - it smells like nettles and peppermint - nice and horrible at the same time.
