I would think a stool sample needs to go to the vet for them to tell you if you need to do it again.

I don't think it would hurt to deworm, I think I would in this case

I wouldn't mess around. I'd call the vet in the morning. If it is heartworm, Bo would need a series of shots for that. Many dogs that come into the rescue have heartworms.

I really don't think it is heartworm though.... you would have had symttoms of coughing and lethargy. I don't know that you actually see worms.

i dont think it was heart worm, i just wasnt sure if the heart worm preventative pills kill other worms. we are taking bo to the vet saterday to get it checked out, hes not acting sick, no diarrhea, no weight loss,or enlarged tummy, so we are not worried about it, but we just want to be sure they are gone.

It's probably a round worm or a tapeworm; pretty common with all puppies. Shenzi's got her next deworming today actually, so I wouldn't be surprised to see some in her poop coming up! I wouldn't do anything special about it, just let them know when you take him to the vet so you can get a dewormer, maybe bring them a fecal sample as well so they can find out what kind of worm it was...
