Heading Vibrating While Smelling

Recently we've noticed that Newman's head sort of vibrates when he's smelling something.

Is this normal?

what do you mean by vibrate? like shakes viciously or is it so subtle that you can barely see it? i have never heard of this before

He will sniff something (usually Tie's bum or man bits) then he will lower his head and it will......vibrate. subtle, quick shaking for a few moments. he doesn't do it when he smells everything, just gross bums!

There's a rather interesting article on How Dogs Smell which says:

Dogs react in different ways to different smells. In tests, for example, it has been found that dogs relax when the aroma of lavender is fed into their environment. Camomile also makes dogs calmer.

I'm thinking if I sniffed a butt, my head would probably start shaking too.

must be kind of like when cats lips curl up when they smell certain things.

yeah i think he's doing it better smell the scent. Magnum (borthers doberman) does something similar when he's sniffing for scents too

Maybe tie's messing with newman and everytime he sticks his head there he is passing gas.

he doesn't need a reason to pass gas....
