Default Lump on stomach????

Hi My dog Cane is 2 1/2 years old, he has had a bump on his stomach right above his groin area since we got him and we thought it was his belly button. The vet never said anything to us about it. He goes for his year check up next month and I am going to make sure I ask but I was wondering if anyone on here knows anything about this.....

It sounds like ( without seeing a picture) an umbilical hernia .

yes, if it's really soft, it could be a hernia. Normally those are repaired before a pup is sold.

My vet will not repair a hernia on a young puppy as many will close on their own . If it has not healed by the age the dog is neutered/spayed she will fix it while the dog is already under .
Of course I am talking about a small lump and not a huge one where there is a large mass protruding .

A puppy in my last litter had a hernia and my vet was not worried at all . The new owners vet is also not worried and will fix it when the dog is neutered after a year old .
