Default Does Your Boxer Get Hot And Overheated Fast?

I've noticed that newman seems to have a harder time with controling his body temperature compared to Tie.

I don't know if it's the way he breathes, the shape of his nose, or just that he's moving so much more/faster than his old buddy.

How does your boxer handle heat and exercise?

Lucky can run with me around my neighborhood no problem in the cooler months, but this summer, she wants to take a break and lay down after walking a few blocks! She gets back home and plops down on the hardwood floor - I guess b/c it is cooler than carpet - and I bring her water bowl over to her. After a few minutes she's back to normal. I think boxers just aren't adept to the handle the heat.

Newman is fond of finding ice cubes in the water, and blowing bubbles to get them! my mom's Doberman, Portia, likes to get the ice cubes and hide them in SHOES! I think she is trying to hide them from Newman so she can have them later, heh heh!

Roddy cannot handle being out in the heat, Ruby manages much better in it. I only walk them in the woods where it is shady and where there are ponds for them to run in and cool off. Roddy has much less stamina than Ruby, even in cooler weather, maybe nose shape, I don't really know.

Edy can handle the heat much better than Remy .
Remy has a much shorter nose and it is harder for him to cool off .

It is supposed to be 103 ( with a heat index of 117 ) today no one will be able to tolerate that for long .

My dogs have not been looking to go out as usual. They have just been sleeping like hibernating bears, LOL. When we go out in the pool, we keep them inside, even though they want to be out with us. It is just to hot for them. When they are out, they may take a quick run around the yard once, do what nature calls, then come running to the door, looking to go inside.
