I just had my 5 yr old male boxer TPLO surgery on his right knee. he had started limping over time and had worsen. After a lot of input and research I chose a dr in savannah to do the procedure. we are starting week 4 and therapy next week. so far it is seems to be doing ok.Its a slow go with a 14 week total recovery time. Thanks Kevin

I am sorry to hear about your boxers recent surgery. Hopefully it will help him I know of a couple other ppl who had their dogs fit with a custom leg brace. there is a place in the USA that you send a casting of the leg to and they make a brace specifically for your dog to help minimise a reoccurring injury/tear.

I don't know anything much about TPLO but 14 weeks recovery, owww. I wish him well. What sort of therapy will he be having?

Glad to hear your guy is doing well so far.
My own guy just had a 12 week x-ray and unluckily for us, his bone has not fully heeled yet. Guess he's a slow heeler.
Things for you to keep in mind include:
A. Never let your dog do as much as they think they are ready to do.

B. Rehab exercises are crucial as they will greatly reduce the risk of your dog's leg becoming stiff and painful.

C. Never let your dog off leash outdoors!

Are you still giving him meds of any kind?

As a follow up, you can read Lars' story if you will in reverse order as he recovers from a rear left leg TPLO:
