Default Recall on Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said the nationwide recall of possibly contaminated peanut butter products has expanded to include some dog biscuits.

The FDA said PetSmart Inc. (NASDAQ:PETM) of Phoenix, Ariz., is voluntarily recalling seven of its Grreat Choice-brand dog biscuit products that contain peanut paste made by the Peanut Corp. of America. That company is the focus of a FDA investigation into potential salmonella contamination of peanut butter and paste made at its Blakely, Ga., plant.

The recalled Grreat Choice dog biscuits were sold between Aug. 21 and Jan. 19.

Do you know if any dogs have actually gotten sick from this? I wonder how contaminated the peanut butter is? Dog's digestive tracts are so short they can handle a lot more bacteria than humans. That being said, my guys aren't getting any peanut butter until this is over. Keepers' training class tonight will be interesting because he usually gets peanut butter kongs during breaks.

yeah i can't find anything saying if any dogs have been sick. Looks like they're just being cautious.

Thanks for the info. I'm not taking any chances - just going to toss any of her treats, etc. w/ peanut butter.

It's funny, if I start making myself a pb&j sandwich, she'll come from anywhere in the house as soon as I open the lid to the peanut butter. She loves it.
