I have tie on Sentinel. Though it's fairly costly i think it's worth it because it protects against fleas, tics and heart worm.

None .
I had a lab that was put on sentinel ( a long time ago ) he developed neurological problems because of it , yes the side effects were listed on the package but the vet assured me it was 100% safe . he was one of the unlucky ones who never completely recovered and lived the rest of his life being afraid of everything and everyone . I will never use another chemical treatment again .

I now only use natural methods of flea & tick prevention . I feed a few cloves of garlic a week , feed a raw diet and use steeped lemon water as a spray of the fleas ticks seem really bad . I also plant flowers that repel bugs . Like lemon grass , marigolds and geraniums .

Heartworm scares me too much, but I'm a huge fan of more natural treatments. We used Sentinel last year and I'm really on the fence about what to do this summer.

we use frontline top spot and interceptor. been on this since her first vet appt.
bruins... i think your natural approach is great. about how long was your lab on the sentinel before symptoms arose?

His symptoms ( mild ) were before the second dose , so within a month of getting it .
I took him to the vet because he just was not acting himself . They found nothing wrong . He got another dose and then I really noticed the weird behavior . Started researching myself and found there could be neuro problems . Vet said it does happen but it is not common , he was just one of the unlucky ones .

I am also leery of neurological damage from some of these chemicals. Has anyone tried
Castor & Pollux Herbal Flea Collar? I am curious if anyone has any experience with any of these herbal or natural products.

Members of another forum I"m on tried it and they found no difference.

We've decided to put the dogs on Sentinel again this summer, giving doses for only about 5 months spaces 6 weeks apart.
