Default Natural Flea & Tick control

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the natural flea/tick/mosquito products out there? I'm not too keen on putting toxic chemicals on Buddy.

Some of them are shampoos, others sprays or herbal collars - anyone use any of these? I notice they may have different active ingredients as well so if you have any experience with specifics (including products) I'd really appreciate it.

We don't live in a heavily infested area and Buddy is a house dog, so I'm just looking for something to give him some protections for brief periods.

Thanks.
Sally

I refuse to stop using heartworm meds, after having a friend lose a rescue to the disease (we use them every 6 weeks, May-September, depending on the weather). So we use Sentinel, that disrupts the reproductive cycle of fleas. I don't use any other type of flea/tick meds.

why every six weeks? I think they recommend you use it ever four, does that mean he's going unprotected for two weeks?

They actuall believe it protects longer than 4 weeks but it is es=asier for people to remember once a month .

Adding raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar & crushed garlic to the diet helps to repel ticks and fleas .

Also spraying the dog down with steeped lemon water can also help .

Oh yeah, we've done the lemon water also. We only really use that up north when we are walking around all those darn bugs.

How much Apple Cider Vinegar do you use? That seems easy enough to add to the diet.

I also do heartworm on a 45 day cycle and based on temperature. Here is an article:

Just found this, looks like it's best for small areas though
