Doreen is on a distinguished road
Default Hello from NJ

Hi, as you can see already, my name is Doreen. My husband and I adopted Rex (2) and Coco (1) in this past year from a NJ Boxer Rescue. We had another set of boxers, Rufus and Roxy which both sadly passed over the Rainbow Bridge, our last one as recently as last December, right after Christmas. They both had a nice life and now we are proud parents of Rex and Coco. Rex is the more mellow and Coco being the hyper one. Both great dogs... great with our 2 young grandsons. We just have to be careful when the little one arrives here, being only 2 years old himself can still be easily knocked over by very happy boxers. But the little one just picks himself up and starts off running again, not minding being knocked over and kissed all over.

This is hard getting dogs that already have not been trained properly. Every day it seems like there is a new struggle whether it be chewing on something left around or some other discipline problem. But we keep marching through. The main problem is Rex's chronic Boxer colitis, which is the reason I came to this site, to try to get new ideas on how to help him.

I am having fun checking out this site and you will probably find me here often now. There is nothing like other Boxer lovers!!!

Welcome!!! Keepers name was Rex when he came to us from rescue. We didn't know who named him and decided to change it.

Hello and wwelcome .

Colitis can be caused by stress as well as foods . I would try putting him on some proboitics to help put the balance of good bacteria into his system ( intestines ) .
I know of a few people who switched their dogs to a home cooked diet and it helped with the colitis . maybe that is worth trying .

Welcome and congratulations on the new additions to your family. I would 'second' the probiotics recommendation. There is more information here about them in general, as well a a particular brand. Our Buddy is 9 months and takes them everyday.

Thank you all for the welcome..... and... you don't have to ask me twice to show photos of my babies!!!!! I will have you saying, Oh no.. she has more!!! LOL LOL LOL.

I will get them up as soon as I figure it out. It will just be a matter of finding the prompts on this site.

I will appreciate all input at any time on helping Rex with his colitis.

I will also enjoying looking at each photo of every dog on here too.
